Serenoa Repens

Serenoa repens, also known as saw palmetto, is derived from a small palm tree that grows dark berries on it native to the southern states of North America. Supplementation of serenoa repens can be highly beneficial for the skin as it contains an abundance of fatty acids, carotenoids, tannin and sugars.

Acne

The fatty acids in serenoa repens helps reduce skin irritation and is extremely beneficial for oily, acne-prone skin types. Serenoa repens is used to treat hormone imbalances which may be responsible for some cases of acne.

Hydration

Serenoa Repens contains several essential fatty acids. When applied topically, essential fatty acids keep the skin nourished and hydrated. Supplementation of essential fatty acids like those found in serenoa repens also strengthens the skins natural oil barrier, improving smoothness and giving the appearance of a plumper, more youthful complexion.

Inflammation

Serenoa Repens contains antioxidants that prevents damage to cells. The berries that come from serenoa repens are a polysaccharide (sugar) that contains a high molecular weight which is linked to reducing inflammation.
