Fisetin

Fisetin is a polyphenol that belongs to the flavonoid group. Flavonoids is a group of natural substances with variable phenolic structures that are known for numerous beneficial effects on health.  It is a plant pigment found in a number of different plants and gives color to various fruit and vegetables.

Anti-Aging

Fisetin has the ability to fight against oxidative stress which contributes to aging. Studies show that Fisetin is a potential senolytic compound, which is a term used for compounds that can slow down aging. They discovered this by comparing mice that was fed a normal diet to those that was fed a fisetin rich diet.  It was evident that the mice that were fed a rich fisetin diet lived longer and they bodily functioned more effectively than the normal fed mice.

Brain Health

Fisetin has the ability to boost the amount of antioxidants in the brain which in turn improves brain health function. Fisetin fights against oxidative stress,  the damage caused by free radicals.  Antioxidants work to decrease neural tissue damage in the brain which is one of the primary causes of a cognitive decline.

Cardiovascular Health

Fisetin protects the heart by fighting against oxidative stress while reducing cholesterol and blood pressure.  This is important since oxidative stress can damage cells, proteins, and DNA. Fisetin also boosts heart health by inducing cardiac regeneration.  Fisetin does this by activating genes involved in cell proliferation.  Cell proliferation is the process of a cell dividing and producing two daughter cells.  This causes the amount of cells to increase, which would then encourage tissue growth.
