Alpha-Hydroxy Acids

Alpha-hydroxy acids are naturally occurring acids derived from plant sugars. Alpha hydroxy acids, known as AHAs, is a group of natural and synthetic ingredients that exfoliate the uppermost layers of the skin leaving it smoother, hydrated and visibly firmer.

Types of Aplha-Hydroxy Acids:

  • Glycolic Acid
  • Lactic Acid
  • Malic Acid
  • Tartaric Acid
  • Citric Acid
  • Mandelic Acid

Anti-Aging

Alpha-hydroxy acids are effective against surface lines and wrinkles. AHA’s increase the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans which in turn thickens the skin. Studies show topical use of AHA significantly improved the texture of skin, wrinkles, and elasticity.

Skin Brightener

As you age the natural skin cell cycle slows down increasing the accumulation of dead skin cells on the skins surface. Alpha-hydroxy acid helps break down dead skin cells due to its exfoliating properties, forcing new skin cells to grow and exposing a brighter and more radiant complexion.

Acne

Alpha-hydroxy acids can help loosen and remove clogged pores. Continuous use of AHA’s prevent future clogged pores from forming. Glycolic and lactic acids support acne prone skin by reducing acne scars and pore size. AHA’s acne combating properties are not limited to the face but are useful for other areas such as the back and chest.
